Vladimir Putin met with President of the Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The talks covered a broad range of bilateral issues.

The discussion dealt with energy cooperation, particularly the Turkish Stream project and the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant.

The parties also exchanged views on major current international issues, including the situation in Ukraine.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan informed Vladimir Putin on the political situation in Turkey and the prospects for forming a government after the recent parliamentary elections.

The two leaders also touched upon trade and economic cooperation. They noted an overall positive trend, stating however that the trade turnover was somewhat lower in 2014 because of the world economic crisis. Both parties confirmed their intention to work towards the strategic goal of reaching $100 billion in mutual trade.

The two leaders also exchanged impressions of the First European Games opening ceremony, which took place the night before, and wished success to their respective teams and the team of the host country.

Taking part in the meeting on the Russian side were Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Energy Minister Alexander Novak, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office and Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, Rosatom CEO Sergei Kiriyenko and Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller
